Ronald Phillips, a long established family business was founded in 1952 with showrooms on Old Brompton Road. In 1976 the firm moved to more spacious premises at 26 Bruton Street in the heart of London’s Mayfair. Simon Phillips took over the business from his father Ronald in the late 1990’s.

Since established Ronald Phillips has proudly handled some of the most important pieces of English furniture from the 18th century available on the market. Every piece of furniture acquired by Ronald Phillips is rigorously vetted by a team of in house experts for its authenticity and chosen for its merits of quality, colour and condition. With this ethos Ronald Phillips has built up a reputation of trust and integrity within the antiques world and is known for handling only the best and rarest pieces of fine English furniture.

Meet our team

Simon Phillips, the owner and chairman has led the firm for the past twenty two years having taken over from his father Ronald, and is responsible for buying all of the hugely varied stock. Simon has specialised in advising private international collectors and building up several significant collections, and supervising restoration of pieces around the world. He has overseen the rapid expansion of the business. After chairing The Grosvenor House Art & Antiques Fair for three years, he is now one of the founding members of Masterpiece London.

Thomas Lange, a German trained cabinetmaker and restorer joined Ronald Phillips in 1996. He took over furniture research in 2008 and expanded the furniture library and archive. His responsibilities include all aspects of furniture research as well as the copywriting of the catalogue.

Caroline Martin joined Ronald Phillips in 2004, after a successful career in property and is responsible for all aspects of administration, including catalogue management and fair organisation. She has a B.A. hons degree in Art History.

Mark Petty joined Ronald Phillips in 2006, having ten years experience working within the shipping and logistics side of antiques trading. He is now responsible for all aspects of shipping.
