A most unusual mid 19th century satinbirch kidney shaped kneehole desk having three drawers in the frieze and three graduated drawers below either side with later brass knob handles. The top retaining original tooled leather and pierced brass gallery. The reverse fitted with two adjustable bookshelves, the desk standing on a plinth base. Note: This type of desk is usually constructed in walnut, mahogany or sometimes rosewood; the use of a light wood like satinbirch is most unusual.
