A charming mid 18th century Chippendale period straight fronted chest of drawers. The cross-banded top with moulded edge above brushing slide and four graduated drawers unusually having aromatic cedar lining and having original elaborate swan-neck handles throughout with spiral twist column insert; on moulded plinth terminating in ogee bracket feet.
The use of aromatic cedar is highly unusual but very practical as a repellent against clothes moths. The mahogany on this beautiful chest has faded to an outstanding colour.
Note: The feet have been extended.
