An extremely rare and important early 19th century mahogany centre table to a design by Thomas Hope, having a beautifully patinated long and slender top with ebonized moulded edge above a frieze with four drawers with anthemion inlay and ebonized knob handles and conforming dummy drawers on the reverse side, the centre drawers formerly fitted with divisions, the two outside drawers formerly fitted with a sliding writing slope; on pierced scroll volute supports with ebonized line and anthemion pendants and hairy paw feet terminating in a concave sided plinth base.
