An exceptional George III Chippendale period finely carved oval looking glass, retaining the original painted and gilded decoration with foliated c-scrolls and opposing mythical griffins on either side, the top being surmounted by a foliated pagoda cresting.  Retaining the original plate.
Note: It is incredibly rare to find a mirror in this original and untouched state.  The quality of the carving is crisper and finer because the mirror was never intended to be gilded.
