A pair of George III semi-elliptic satinwood and  purpleheart marquetry side tables attributed to Mayhew and Ince.
The quality of the marquetry and the remarkable condition of the surface speak for themselves on this pair of tables.
The exceptionally fine inlay work is highlighted with very fine engraved lines to give the ornamental design a three-dimensional effect. These lines are in some instances so fine that they only score the varnish on top of the veneered surface. Fine engraving of this kind can all too often be lost by careless removal of the original surfaces.
