William Talbot's political as well as personal life was very colourful. He saw himself as an independent wig opposing Robert Walpole in his early years eventually becoming a member of the Privy council under the new monarch George III in 1760. In his personal life an open affair with Francis, Duchess of Beaufort led to the formers as well as his own divorce.
The family seat Barrington Park in Gloucestershire passed to his daughter after being made 1st Baron Dynevor in 1780, two years before his death.
J. Goldman was the founder of the luxury jewellery brand Burma. He engaged Tom Parr of Colefax & Fowler to decorate his impressive mansion nestled in the mountains above Cannes.
