A pair of Regency polychrome decorated cast metal nodding head seated chinamen  candelabra.

Note: The figures mostly retain their original decoration with one seat cushion and one torso with restorations.

Similar chinamen in seated position dating from the beginning if the 18th century feature in the Porzelankabinett in Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin. Here the figures are placed on platforms mounted to a wall entirely decorated with Chinoiserie figures and porcelain objects.

A chandelier with four very similar seated figures was sold by Ronald Phillips to a private collection in Europe and it is possible that the figures and the chandelier originally formed part of the same suite.
