The serving table would have most likely been part of a dining room suite featuring matching dining room urns with similar metal mounts.
The type of mounts used for the table are specific for the Chippendale workshop. The husk leaves in particular are used on dining room urns at Paxton House in Scotland and on a pair of urns on loan from the Victoria &Albert Museum at Cannon Hall in Barnsley, Yorkshire.
The timber used for the construction as well as the veneers are as expected from the Chippendale workshop of superior quality. The red clay wash to the underside furthers the attribution to the famous maker.
