The glass manufacturing company William Parker & Son was founded in the mid 18th century. The firm had the highest reputation and many prestigious clients, ranging from William Beckford to the Royal households of George III and the Prince of Wales.
The best documented of Parker's commissions were for the Dukes of Devonshire for their London residence, Devonshire House, andfor their country seat at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. Another important and well documented commission was the chandeliers for the Assembly Rooms in Bath, Somerset.
Parker & Son's showroom was at 2 Fleet Street, London, and later at 69 Fleet Street. The company merged with William Perry in 1817, becoming Parker, Perry & Co., and remained in business until 1936.
