The exotic quilted mahogany has acquired a beautiful patination. The top drawer is fitted with an internal green baize lined slide and two side compartments under. A further pull-out slide is concealed within the moulding under the gadrooned edge.
The handles are all original, two locks have been replaced.

A serpentine shaped library table with identical gadrooned edge, shaped drawer fronts and guilloche carved division between the drawers was formerly in the celebrated collection of Theodore and Ruth Baum in New York. So unusual in their carved elements it is undoubtedly from the same workshop.
