An extremely rare and important mid-18th Century Chinese padouk wood cabinet. The cabinet having a pair of doors each fitted with thirteen superb Chinese mirror paintings and enclosing adjustable shelves. The broken pediment cornice, carved with dentil mouldings and having platform to the centre. The base with four graduated drawers in the centre with fine gilt-mounted rococo handles, flanked by cupboards with ebony astragal mouldings; standing on plinth base.

The use of Chinese mirror paintings for glazed doors is extraordinarily rare and only one other such cabinet is known. It is remarkable that this cabinet is still in such fine condition and especially the twenty six mirror paintings.

The other known cabinet with mirror paintings to the doors is illustrated in Carlton Hobbs catalogue II, plate 16.
