A highly important mid-18th century George II carved giltwood side table in the manner of William Kent retaining the original gilding, the later inset white marble top bordered by Vitruvian scrolls and a heavily carved gadrooned edge above a frieze with roundels, the top supported by two superb carved eagles to each front corner centred by an impressive lion’s head with swags of acorns either side and the scrolled supports standing on square plinth bases.
