A pair of George II walnut side chairs.
A set of four chairs with identical carved front legs and without doubt from the same suite were formerly in the celebrated collection of Esmond Bradley Martin,
This suite is probably unique in design having carved front legs simulating drapery.
Lord Leigh sold part of the suite from Stoneleigh Abbey at Christies's 15th July 1965 when they entered the well respected collection of Esmond Bradley Martin,New York. A stool from the suite was sold from a private collection, Sotheby's, New York, October 16th, 1993, lot 94 and another pair of stools from the suite sold at Christie's New York 27 October 2006, lot 40.
