Moses Lafount patented this unusual design for chandeliers in January 1797. The town assembly rooms of Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk retain a group of seven chandeliers to the Lafount patent, possibly supplied around 1804.

The central receiving plate of the chandelier is stamped ‘LAFOUNT PATENT’ and numbered 426. The chandelier has survived in remarkable condition with very little repairs and replacements amounting to 3 later candle nozzles, 1 later drip pan and two repaired arm sections.
