An outstanding quality and important early 19th century brass and polychrome japanned copper decorated twenty four light chinoiserie chandelier in the manner of Henry Holland having four seated china men with nodding heads in vermilion and blue dress each holding six finely chased leaf decorated brass candle arms; on an octagonal platform with concave sides exquisitely decorated with gold motif and chinoiserie scenes on a black background and accentuated with brass pineapple pendants and bells; suspended by chinoiserie fret brass chain from a conforming octagonal corona with brass finialThis extraordinary chandelier relates to furnishings by Henry Holland for Carlton House and in particular to a pair of candelabra now at Buckingham Palace also featuring polychrome chinoiserie figures on concave sided platform plinths.
