    J. S. Sykes played a central role in a circle of British and American collectors of English furniture of the 18th century which included Eric Moller, Samuel Messer, Percival Griffiths, Jim Joel, Lord Plender and Geoffrey Blackwell. All of these collectors formed their collection under the guidance of Robert Wemyss Symonds and met regularly at Sykes' flat to exchange information and discuss their latest purchases.

This amazing kettle stand table remained with the Sykes family until 2001 and has not been on the market since.
