Queen Anne Furniture

Whilst Ronald Phillips Ltd is world renowned for its collection of mid to late 18th century English antique furniture we do carry in stock a good range of earlier Queen Anne antique furniture and objects. England at the time had a fascination with the orient so earlier pieces tended to be japanned, as was the fashion. Whether it is a large Queen Anne antique japanned cabinet, a small miniature japanned low boy or a large japanned mirror with original early glass each piece of Queen Anne antique furniture is chosen for its originality, quality and construction. Walnut was the most important and prolific wood used at the time in the construction of furniture and good examples of early antique low boys, kneehole desks and side tables and chairs are often found in stock along with early carved antique gesso and giltwood mirrors with early bevelled plates. The walnut antique furniture of the time is often of fine colour and patination and due to its simplicity of line and construction will work well in any contemporary of classical setting.
