Girandoles

Girandoles were historically used to light darkened rooms and would have glittered with reflected candle light from the giltwood and the mirror plate. Mounted to a wall, with either a single or a double candle arm they came in to fashion in the mid to late 18th century as dedicated items, rather than just being an earlier mirror, mounted with candle arms. Ronald Phillips Ltd has an extensive stock of girandoles, dating from 1765-1780, each pair chosen for their decorative merit, historical importance and originality. When placed in a dining or sitting room, 18th century girandoles can add a touch of opulence to an otherwise modern interior or act has intriguing and subdued light source to a darkened room.
